Accuracy and sourcing
Claims should be supported by reliable primary evidence and modern scholarship. Dates, quotations, ranks and statistics receive particular scrutiny.
Fact and interpretation
We distinguish established chronology from interpretation. Genuine debate is described rather than forced into false certainty.
Primary sources
Letters, diaries, photographs and official records are valuable but not neutral. We explain authorship, context, purpose and limitations.
Images
Images must depict the stated person, event or context. Later representations are labelled, and creator, archive, source and licence data are retained.
Corrections
Substantive corrections are made promptly. Updated dates indicate when an article has been reviewed or changed.
Quizzes
Each multiple-choice question must have one defensible correct answer and an explanation that teaches more than the letter of the answer.
